I guess for the main part this is aimed at games like WoW where you choose a race and then choose a class.  After that point everything you do is tied to that character.  All this is great, but at what point do you say, after creating your X number of alts… “I just can’t be bothered to go through this anymore“.

I, for one, have many alts and more often I’m seeing the same old content, which sometimes make me wish it was something more like a game I used to play, FFXI.  Now I dare not go back to it, as there is so many things to put me off more so, but one nice thing was the fact that if you were bored of a certain class, you could (if you had complete the pre-requisite quest chain), just talk to an npc and change up to whatever you felt like.  Your character still had all its rep and crafting skills, you just simply traded in one class for the next.  Now this is all fine and dandy, but the fact remains;  when you start to level something after the first time you will see the same thing over and over.  I, for one, try to mix things up by going to different places, but again there as only so many places you can go at certain levels no matter which game your playing.

On the up side, after seeing content a few times you tend to remember where things are and how to get things done efficiently so leveling up does tend to speed up after 2-3 times.

I guess the question is what keeps you motivated to level so many classes before it comes to be simply boring?  Kitn would say it is because I’m a Gemini whose attention can change with the winds and lose interest rather quickly.  I guess on that part I would have to agree and as a result why I have so many alts here and there.

How about you would be gaming visitors ? Do you find yourself in the same position ? and what keeps you going on the grinding machine ?
