A while ago I made our very own wordpress theme and have been planning on making a good, easy-to-follow tutorial for the ultra beginner.  So, now is the time!

First off, you will need to know at least a few basics in regards to html, php and css.  This can’t be avoided I’m afraid, but don’t get scared off just yet!  Even if you dont know it all too well you can still give it a go! Learn by doing!!

First Attempt

Last week I was looking through Lifehacker at some of the desktops they feature and stumbled over a link to a program called Samurize.  First off, it seemed like something I had tried before (Rainmeter) and wasn’t so impressed with.

What does it do? Well to put it simply, It shows you information you want, where you want.  What information depends on you, it could be system information or the weather.

What impressed me right off the bat, was the fact it included its own editor which really does let you tweak all the little doo dads with ease. Even if your not technically minded you could figure it out, as most of it is just click and drag.

Still interested ? Hit the read more link for more including a sample config I whipped up and am currently using!

Fashion All righty, trying out a new article theme called On The Hanger, which basically points out certain similar outfits that a group of video game characters happen to be wearing.  Calling upon the girly side of me stuffed in a dark corner of my inner self, I’ll (hopefully) make this a constant and ongoing article type.

So, hit the jump and let’s find out who I managed to scrounge up.

Well, originally I was going to do an article about 5 moments in tv that I grew up to, but as I was doing the first one (Zack and Kelly from Saved By The Bell getting married) I ran into some annoyances that put me off writing it.

Mainly, it was that every single instance of the one moment I wanted to highlight about the tv special (the wedding song), had embedding disabled.  I don’t know if this was some conspiracy amongst the video uploaders to annoy me by having to put up hyperlinks instead of Youtube video previews, or the station who owns the show’s rights making them do it, but it’s annoying to have to make people switch pages/tabs just to visualize the point your making or presenting (which in turn, still irritates me).

Oh yes, trying something new!  With the patient and ever so helpful Kitn, I have taken it upon myself to try and make some use of 3DS Max.  I must admit, it isn’t the most user friendly program in the world, at least to a beginner like me anyway.  I’m sure to the pro’s out there, this thing is just like riding a bike, or driving a car.  But right now this thing is like riding a bike, whilst driving a car, on a unicycle…

I have been scanning over many tutorials and there are not many that help the absolute beginner.  At least ones that make sense to 3DS Max noobies like me.  Maybe that is something for a future post?

Anyhoo I just wanted to show how I am getting on with some of my most basic renders.

Hit the read more to be blown away by the amazing noobish renders!!!

I’m sure you all have random days at work where something happens where you just think… what the!?  right? Well, this week wasn’t without it’s randomness when, the other morning, I walked into the office to see Mr T. ready to answer the phone…

Now I am a total fan of his Snickers adverts so when I saw this, I burst out in laughter!  Along with his little quote “I haz nut alergy”.
Yes I know, allergy was spelt wrong in the quote.

It sure was a great start to the day.

I have been rather lazy when it comes to posting of late so today, hopefully I will make up for it with this tutorial!  Now, please don’t get put off by the many steps it has as I tried to show more steps in order to explain less and show more.  Now this isn’t going to be for the absolute beginner and wont explain every detail.

Ok, so on with the tutorial.

We’ve posted articles on Dog The Bounty Hunter before, so it’s obvious that it’s one of the shows we tend to watch when nothing else is on.  So, I figured I’d post up some of the other shows we flip to when the movie channels aren’t showing anything interesting.

That, and it’s an excuse to post up an article so it looks like I’m more active…
