M.I.A.

Hey hey folks, I’m surprised at those who might actually following be following this small and humble site.

Anyhoo, probably you’ve noticed us missing in action in blogs (more than usual).  Well, we started off by taking an on/off two week vacation while the Yeti was celebrating his birthday.  We spent as much of the time together as possible, seeing as he was off work.  Hence, the blog silence during that time.

But the latest silence comes a bit from Yeti being burnt out with WoW and me just.. well, being the lazy cat that I am.  Yeti’s stopped playing WoW, taking a break, and I’ve gone on a similar hiatus (mostly out of laziness to play).  In between, I’ve been trying out the open beta of Luna Online (I swear I’ll get a review out eventually), a bit of Sims 3, and just dabbling here and there in one of the many random things I do.

Yeti’s gotten on a Full Metal Alchemist kick and we’ve watched all of the first season’s episodes and are waiting to watch the new Brotherhood series that started up.  To ready myself for it, I’ve started reading the manga (which is what Brotherhood will be following).  It looks like our latest collecting kick will be around the FMA franchise.

We’re still waiting on some PS3 games worth spending money over and I’ve got some DS games I’ve got to catch up on (as well as some articles relating to them to get started.. gah!).

Not much new news to cover on this end (apart from everyone talking about Michael Jackson’s death).  I’ll try to heave ho into action and get some posts up (and to stop getting caught up on writing new material articles and start blogging about other stuff I read everywhere else), but at least now you know that we haven’t dropped off the face of the earth.  We’ve just been actually doing things away from the computer *gasp* here and there.

Keepin’ Busy!

I’ve been super slacking on the updates lately, partly due to lazyness and partly due to being busy with other bits n’ bobs (including working on YKTarget).

At long last I managed to save up enough cash money to make my very own in-game chooper and here I am sporting my new ride!

WoWScrnShot_060809_220602

Shortly after the Kitn and I found ourselves in a 25 man Naxx where we both got loot.  I managed to get my first ever piece of tier 7 gear! Yay! Now, we really aren’t the raiding type, yet we somehow ended up doing it.  Even though it did last a while, it was nice that the whole thing was split up into quarters, unlike Kara (back in the day), which was just one loooooong run.

Weeeeeeeee~!

If you haven’t heard or seen the Kitn’s post about the new Final Fantasy MMO then check it out.  Its given us much to ponder over.  Could it be a possible new game for us (and many others)? Only time can tell.

Work still continues on YKTarget, but we are hoping to have the new release out in a week or two.

To keep today from being entirely barren of blogs (hey, it’s the Yeti’s b-day tomorrow, we’re entitled to being lazy and spending the free time together), here’s a Disturbing Realization Of The Day!

TH Alright, so Final Fantasy XIV was announced, and it’s another MMO.  Me and the Yeti have been looking for a different escape from WoW, and this could be just the ticket we were looking for.  I mean, hey… we met on FFXI, and we’ve had our fond share of memories about that game, but there’s no denying that in order for us to really want to give it a good go, there’s a couple of things we’re looking forward to in terms of changes.

E3 FFXIV Trailer

If you haven’t seen it already, this is the E3 trailer they ended up showing.  I still believe it’s basically FFXI-2.  The hume looks the same, but they tossed in both an elvaan and a galka on the side (although it’s strangely a tail-less galka).  Not to mention the trailer does say “…you must join hands… once again.”  That just screams ‘sequel’ in itself.

So allow me to indulge in some old FFXI memories and what I hope to see changed with the upcoming XIV.

What with the new version of Windows around the corner, and after announcing a release date of Oct 22nd, I decided to put one of my ideas into a more visual form.

Ever since the introduction of the taskbar and start menu, not all that much has changed. Sure they added some transparency and what not, but essentially it looks pretty much the same as it did back in the days of Windows 95.

What I would like to see is some real creative changes to the Start Menu, even multiple options on how it looks without the use of 3rd party software, I want those features built in.

Anyhoo my idea for a start menu was more of a circular method, where bars would extend from a central postion. This would mean it could practically sit anywhere on the screen, not just the sides or a corner and would fit in to the touch screen enviroment so well.

In this example I did opt for the standard corner position, but just imagine being able to plonk that just anywhere.

Click on the revolving Start menu

You will have to excuse the buggyness of the example, as it was only meant to be an example and not used for anything. It does tend to flip out on random clickyness!

How about you would be users/readers! What do you think of the current start menu ? Would you like to see some interface changes to windows as we know it ? Go go comment with your say!

bingMicrosoft have been pushing their search engine again these days.  What search engine you say ? Oh, well that would be Bing, as they like to call it.  It’s their attempt at rivaling the monster, Google.

Who I am to question competition? It makes everyone work harder to produce something that little bit better! So, off I went to give it a whirl!

It wasn’t too long before I ran into trouble.  I did a simple search for “YetiKitn” and at the end of the 3rd page of results the problems came in.

Bing or Bang

As you can see, people are already on the case of passing off fake results to Bing using the keywords you’ve supplied.  So, what does this mean? At this point in time it’s going to be bloated with trash results, making your searching a nightmare.  The pages continued full of fake results using similar domain names.

As of right now I doubt this will touch what Google has.  It has alot of work to sort out before even being considered a usable platform for internet searches.

My recommendation for now… stay well clear of it, but by all means give it a test try or two if you’re feeling adventurous.  Just don’t go using it as your daily search engine ‘lest the ‘Bing’ sound you hear may be your virus alarm going off.

E3As always at this time of the year every man and his dog are talking about E3, the time when we get news of upcoming goodies to our favorite platforms and usually the time the Kitn reminds me how she misses the swag bags she would loot when she was able to go (still super jealous I never got to go!).

Kitn: “Hey, it was awesome loot!”

I know it’s all still going on, but I’ve yet to see anything of major interest come out of all the hustle and bustle.  The new PSP was just not impressive to me at all, sure it’s all new and digital only, but theres not enough of anything new to make me want to get one, it looks just as hand crampy as earlier versions.

Microsoft seem to be joining the ranks of people who seems to give somewhat strange names to things when they introduced the Natal… Yes that’s right, Natal.  I bet just like the Kitn and I you said it wrong too!  Apparently your supposed to say it all posh like Nat-al.  Somehow I don’t see kids going in to Gamestop and asking for it all posh like and will give the good ol Natal pronounciation as if they were into child birth.

Let’s hope that something more exciting comes out of what’s left of E3 this year! Maybe I’ve been spoilt over the years and have just hit that level of expectancy… either way I wants new shiny things people! Get to workin’!

Fun With Mounts

FWMTH All right, so lately we’ve been getting a lot of sun here in the UK.  It’s a rarity, so when it happens, we jump at every chance to soak up as much of it as possible.  I know, it sounds like another excuse for not keeping up with the blog, but hey, at least I had one ready!

So, lately, I’ve actually been into questing the ole’ cow and getting myself playing a bit more often than I normally would.  Granted, this playing streak may not last much longer, but only time can tell.  Till then, here’s a bit of a look into what mischief I’ve been getting into lately.

I’ve been questing myself up, doing the daily grinding, and happened to come across a few fun moments with mounts.  I thought I’d share some with you, especially if you haven’t come across these quests yet.
