Getting Back Into Art
Filed under Digital ArtSo, I got an awesome Christmas present to help me get try to get back into drawing. As an added bonus, I went splurge crazy with my Christmas money and bought a few art books to try to supplement me getting back into the art habit. One of the books I happened to pick up was this:
It’s a gorgeous book (that I highly recommend to purchase) of different artists’ take on the Disney Princesses (another self-confession of girly-ism from me, I still adore some Disney Princesses). This book gave me some inspiration to just start out on some simple sketches, and instead of trying to wrack my brain for a completely new image, I’d start out simple and just do renditions of characters I like. So, here’s my first entry into getting back into art, inspired by the art from the aforementioned book.
Meet Cutesy Ariel:

(Sorry about the Watermarking, but you know how klepto people can get with art on the internet…)
(No Grabby Grabby without permission!!)
There were a few artists in the book who had such adorable chibi art styles, and I figured, rather than work myself frustrated trying to do something intricate, I should just start off with something simple and uncomplicated. This is pretty much what I ended up with.
The Little Mermaid was one of the first cartoons I remember constantly watching when we ended up with the Disney Channel. Every time it showed, I just had to watch it. Coincidentally, a few meh sequels later, she’d have a dark-haired kid named Melody! Coincidence?! (Probably…)
Eventually, I hope to do a few more princesses before I move on and change styles again, or get inspired by one of my other random art books cluttering up our room. Next up is my favorite reader, Belle.
