I am extremely lazy.. well, not extremely. I’m actually motivated to draw by my addiction to the new Alice movie, but I still haven’t come around to blogging again. In my defense, I’ve just picked up Yeti’s manflu, so now I’ve got Kitnflu… well, you get the idea.

But regardless of flu, I did manage to finish another piccy, and I made it big enough so that it can be printed at some point in time and not look completely like pixelated rubbish.

It’s been a long time since we posted a tutorial so here we go! this time in video for in HD!  If the video is too small you can hit the full screen mode and it will still look nice and crisp (unless you have a 500″ monitor!).

We hope you enjoy the video and any feedback is appreciated!

Let us know if you prefer the video to the old style of images.

Okay okay, I got lazy again with the whole posting thing… …and the art thing … and I will use the excuse of work again.

But hey!  I did draw and post eventually!  And here it is!

I’m still trying to find my style, though I’m shifting towards the cell-shadey cartoony look.  I made another iteration of the Yeti.  I don’t think I’ll ever get a finalized look for him, but I’m trying.

So here’s my fuzzy-wuzzy-kins (I’m married, so I totally get to talk like that).

Well, another day being trapped by the ice hill from hell.  Ah well, all that’s fun and snowy ends, since the temperature has been steadily climbing, I’ll no doubt be back at work by tomorrow.  But till then, I managed to do another sketch and color of the promised Disney girl.  If you recognize the post title or have kept up from the previous post, you’ll know just who it is I drew today.

So, me and the Yeti got snowed in out of work today (basically, our car would’ve been playing bumper cars with the other parked ones if we actually got it to move).  Seeing as we were going nowhere, I actually had the urge to do another Disney Princess sketch.  Another favorite, moreso than Ariel, is Belle from Beauty and the Beast.

When I was a kid, I adored how headstrong and smart she was, and how she loved books, just like I did.  I had even read the Disney book of Beauty and the Beast before I had watched the movie (and at seven, I still bawled my eyes out at both reading and watching the ending bit… gah, such a romantic).  I watched the movie so much (when I eventually got the VHS of it) that I could literally recite all of Belle’s lines as I watched the movie.  I know… so sad.

Anyhoo, on to the drawing!

So, I got an awesome Christmas present to help me get try to get back into drawing.  As an added bonus, I went splurge crazy with my Christmas money and bought a few art books to try to supplement me getting back into the art habit.  One of the books I happened to pick up was this:

It’s a gorgeous book (that I highly recommend to purchase) of different artists’ take on the Disney Princesses (another self-confession of girly-ism from me, I still adore some Disney Princesses).  This book gave me some inspiration to just start out on some simple sketches, and instead of trying to wrack my brain for a completely new image, I’d start out simple and just do renditions of characters I like.  So, here’s my first entry into getting back into art, inspired by the art from the aforementioned book.

I’ve been wanting to try 3D modelling out for a while and have had a little bash a few times.  This time I stuck to my guns and finally created something.  Yeah, ok, so it’s a spoon, not the best spoon in the world either, but none the less it’s my first 3D model made from scratch and I thought it came out pretty well.

My aim is to eventually get some more detailed models in the works and take scenes from games, but give them a huge poly count for scene rendering.

Oh, and learn the deal on texturing… I know my spoon looks more plastic than metallic.  It’s on my list of things to do!

cogthumbWhew.. been a while since I’ve posted, hasn’t it?  Guess it’s about time I throw something out there.  I know, I know.. I really do need to catch up, but hey.. the time it takes to gather up the screenies and post this tutorial should sort of make up for my lack of writing… right?

Ah well.. this tutorial isn’t as super simplified as I normally make it, but then again, screenshot-ing did start to annoy me, but I tried to detail as much of the steps as possible.  Any questions, definitely comment and I’ll try to clear things up!

All right, I’ll beg for forgiveness later, let’s get on with the tutorial ^^

vindi-thumbnailSo, I’ve gotten around to doodling again.. well, sort of.  I lost the motivation to doodle and draw for almost a year now, but I’ve recently taken up to learning to color some of the old stuff I’ve had stashed away.  I’m learning how to go through the process of coloring, trying to find my style and whatnot.  So far, I’ve settled on a simple shaded sort of look to it, just so that it’s nothing so complex for me.  She’s the first coloration I’ve been happy with in a looong time of trying.  Here’s hoping there’s more to come and I get motivated again!
