It’s been a long time since we posted a tutorial so here we go! this time in video for in HD!  If the video is too small you can hit the full screen mode and it will still look nice and crisp (unless you have a 500″ monitor!).

We hope you enjoy the video and any feedback is appreciated!

Let us know if you prefer the video to the old style of images.

cogthumbWhew.. been a while since I’ve posted, hasn’t it?  Guess it’s about time I throw something out there.  I know, I know.. I really do need to catch up, but hey.. the time it takes to gather up the screenies and post this tutorial should sort of make up for my lack of writing… right?

Ah well.. this tutorial isn’t as super simplified as I normally make it, but then again, screenshot-ing did start to annoy me, but I tried to detail as much of the steps as possible.  Any questions, definitely comment and I’ll try to clear things up!

All right, I’ll beg for forgiveness later, let’s get on with the tutorial ^^

I have been rather lazy when it comes to posting of late so today, hopefully I will make up for it with this tutorial!  Now, please don’t get put off by the many steps it has as I tried to show more steps in order to explain less and show more.  Now this isn’t going to be for the absolute beginner and wont explain every detail.

Ok, so on with the tutorial.

thumbnailAll righty, seeing as our visitor rate is taking a plunge, looks like it’s about time for me to break out some kind of tutorial.

So, yesterday I decided to give my desktop a little pizzaz and went to making myself a new wallpaper.  Now, I saw a wallpaper with some snazzy chunky diagonal lines and it inspired me to create a wallpaper for myself using some.  Unfortunately, I had only recently learned how to make the bitty diagonals, and was at a loss on how to do the chunk ones properly.  I found a few on Google that went about teaching it in a somewhat (how can I explain this?…) mathematical sort of way.

I will tell you now, math is my most terrible subject (I don’t know how I got away with the grades I did without understanding a lick of what I did in math classes).  So explaining how to do the chunky diagonals with numbers just wasn’t cutting it for me.  I decided to try it on my own (and got nowhere fast).  Yeti happened to look in what I was doing and started explaining it in a more visual manner, pointing out where lines would go to make a proper diagonal all nice and chunky.

Needless to say, I got a wonderful new snazzy wallpaper on my desktop and a new tutorial to explain how to do the same chunky monkey diagonals.

Well, we’ve been into the RSS icon frenzy lately, mostly due to Yeti going through creating a new layout for the site that he’s been secretly ninja working on.

Once again, since I haven’t had much of inspiration to work on a proper long article, I went about dabbling with creating more RSS piccys for folks to use.

Since we don’t have a counter properly set up, do use the comment system to give a shout on what site it’s being used at so we can gawk and oggle it.

Hit the Read the Rest to check out the next batch of piccys:

As the Kitn was so kind to give out some RSS icons, I thought it would be a good time to try out the screen recording software by showing how we go about making them.

Now, I must appologise as the video got converted 2 or more times, and with the addition of youtube, it got a little blurry.  So, please bare with us while we work out the kinks with the screen recording and hope you enjoy the tutorial.

Hit up the read more to see the video.

All right, so I haven’t quite made good on doing more posts, but to make amends, here’s something to use (even if it’s available everywhere).

I started dabbling with learning how to make RSS piccys and here’s the first batch of colorful ones I cobbled together.

I’ll try to muster up the motivation to actually get some articles running, but for now…

Hey, if you happen to use one, let us know in the comments so we can see it in it’s happy new day job as a spiffy RSS piccy.

Following in the Kitn’s footsteps with her awesome tutorial on sticky tape I decided to come along with one of mine on how to make a folder like icon! So enjoy and I hope it’s easy enough to follow!

All righty, Yeti asked me to do this ages ago after he saw me use it in one of my Little Big Planet wallpapers a while back, so I finally got around to getting some subpar quality screenshots of clear tape creation and got around to writing about it.  Hopefully this tutorial will be somewhat useful and easy to understand.
