The Kitn heard about this Playstation Life and we decided to download it and give it a try.  First of all, you have to download Folding@home, which is some medical research thing, kind of like seti@home if anyone remembers that.

First impressions were “Oooo Shiney” when I saw the nice visual earth spinning around and thought it was neat how you could zoom in and out on the earth, see weather, but only for major cities.  Let’s take England for example:  All it gives you is London’s weather.  Now if you live in Scotland that info is about as useful as a chocolate tea pot, but there you go, that’s all your getting, now move along.

It does try and give you some news for each country, but we found when clicking on a news topic (some form of mini browser pops up) that the text on a standard definition tv was unreadable.

So all in all, it makes a nice spinning globe come up on your screen, but thats about as useful as it gets.  Compared to the Wii’s news and weather features it has a few steps to take before I will bother to load it up again.

The Kitn and I are a little stuck at the moment.  We have some 360 games (some which the Kitn won in some competitions) and some from our time in the US, but we have no console to play them on.  We could just bite the bullet and get a UK version, but it would be a massive waste of the games we already have!  Looking around its been hard to find a place to get one imported, and Ebay being such the scam city it is I would rather go without.

It looks like our only choice is to have relatives send one over, and hope we don’t get stuck with import tax.  The other thing which is going to hike up the price is shipping! We all know how much of a monster that darn power pack is for the 360.

And last but not least.  My main concern is that dreaded RROD! The last thing we want is to try and get the thing repaired from out of country… Oh to 360 or not to 360…

Knowing us I’m sure we will !!!….eventually. Can’t let perfectly good games go to waste now can we ;) ?

If anyone knows of a good reputable store which imports consoles to the UK please let us know!

Looks like it’s true!  Could be I just haven’t noticed at all but the lil green fella even appears on the box!  and looking from screen shots over at play asia the modelling looks very well done too.  But thats to be expected from the soul caliber people.  I also hear there will be other star wars people appearing including vader among others but which you get seems to be dependant on which platform you are playing on.  Maybe all are unlockable ? but who knows!  get to pre-ordering people!

We hardly knew ye.. or played with ye...Theres alot of buzz at the moment with the recent update for the Wii that it’s killing off the zelda homebrew hack and also the freeloader. It’s only a small update with no real features being added (save for being able to place some Miis in the Mii parade that no one bothers to play with anymore) so it could just be a fix from Nintendo to “try” and put a stop to the homebrew & any region playing.

No news yet if this is actually the case as the Yeti & Kitn just have a regular Wii with no hacking bits at all.

Are you a user of either? Does it still work ?
